favourite roads
Hi Folks,
Just sitting here on nightshift wondering .......whats your favourite roads on a sunny day with a full tank of fuel and time on your hands??????
The ones i enjoy whenever nibbler lets me out are......
Wick to Castletown, dunnet, groats, keiss and back to wick.
Also enjoy Wick to Dornoch...on account of all those lovely corners
Anyone else like these roads or have there own favourites?
Dont be shy

Re: favourite roads
Hi Deeker
Dont have any at the mo cos I'm waiting for a certain someone to show me how to fix up ma bike!!!!
When I was biking up to Thurso for work, I enjoyed the Castletown route. Much better than the Watten route as it was too straight. Haven't done many miles lately but hope to make up for it later on next year when my ZXR400L is back on the road and looking red hot!!!!
As for allowing you out - now, there could be a blackmail opportunity if ever I saw one

Re: favourite roads
Short Runs:
Wick to Helmsdale and back.
Longer Runs:
Wick to Lairg via Golspie, then up to Tongue, then back to wick. or same in reverse.
Lairg to Tongue road (A836 I think) has beautiful scenery and from Tongue to Melvich is entertaining.
Also like the roads from Tongue round to Ullapool and then onto Inverness.

Re: favourite roads
I've never done the run round Tongue- Ullapool- Inverness, but it's on my list of things for next year (too cold now!!).
Might be a good club outing?
I agree that the Tongue to Lairg road is a beautiful run
The road from Lairg to Ullapool is quite nice too if you're not in too much of a rush!!
On a nice day I like the Wick-Lairg-Bonar Bridge-Evanton(Struie)-Wick run

Re: favourite roads
A9 to Inverness, then A82 to Loch Lomond, or detour off A82 for A87 round Skye, then back onto A82 for Loch Lomond. Guaranteed huge grins at the end of your journey.

How could i forget about the struie! really good road, although the last time i was on it the road surface was poor in places, just watch out for those cattle grids .down loch ness to oban was another good run, especially with the cobra race pipe echoing across the valley on the old gixer .
Also enjoyed round the west coast near lochinver..beautiful scenery.
Good idea about a club run.need till pay ma membership when i get home.
as for you nibbler bring on the blackmail....Grrrrrrrrrrrrr
